News about Cambridge city’s first community farm is spreading fast, thanks to the support and enthusiasm of the team at Cambridge Independent newspaper. When the paper approached me this week to discuss the project, they were clearly as excited as we are about the farm and it’s potential to help drive greater equality in the city.
What I didn’t realise, however, is that they’d run the story on the front page and give us so much coverage in the news and comments sections. I’m delighted that the project is striking such a chord with people and overwhelmed by how much support there is out there for the farm.
The Cambridge Indy story aims to promote the drop-in community consultation event about the farm we are holding this Saturday 30th March at Horizon Resource Centre, Coldhams Lane. We would love as many people as possible who live in Cambridge - especially those who live near the Barnwell Road/Coldhams Common area - to drop by, find out more and help shape plans for the farm. A link with the details is here.
Our very warmest thanks to Alex Spencer (story), Mike Scialom (leader piece) and Keith Heppell (pictures) and the whole team at Iliffe Media for getting behind us. We’ll look forward to sharing our story with Cambridge Independent readers as it develops.
