Work to establish Cambridge city’s first community farm is now well underway!
Throughout this summer we’ll be needing co-farming volunteers to help with various tasks to establish a thriving and productive organic market garden, create habitats for wildlife and inspiring spaces for people to be able to socialise whilst maintaining social distancing in a safe, outdoor environment.
Tasks include fun things like doing battle with thistles with hoes (just to clarify - it is you who will be armed with a hoe - not the thistles!); transplanting food crop seedlings into our 2 acre organic market garden and helping to create more accessible pathways on the site, so that we can welcome and involve everyone with the farm set-up.
As the season progresses, tasks will also include harvesting our organic fruit and vegetables and helping to distribute our crops to the 7 emergency food hubs that have been established in Cambridge to support those experiencing food insecurity as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
So we can manage numbers of volunteers safely and maintain appropriate social distancing protocols, booking a co-farming session is essential. All of our volunteering opportunities are posted on our booking page.
